Application overview added to App Studio
Valid from Pega Version 8.1
High-level information about an application, such as the available channel interfaces, case types, and data types, is now available in App Studio. By monitoring your project from a holistic point of view, you can make informed decisions about how and where you want to allocate your development resources.
For more information, see Application overview.
Manage and visualize application data with the Integration Designer
Valid from Pega Version 8.1
Use the Integration Designer to manage data at the application level and to access a comprehensive view of all data objects in your application with their associated data. Additionally, from the Integration Designer, you can create data objects and map them to other objects and to systems of record.
For more information, see Managing application data with the Integration Designer.
New integration system resource
Valid from Pega Version 8.1
You can now define integration systems that you can use when you create data pages, integration connectors, and databases. Integration systems are associated with an icon that is displayed on the Integration Designer so that you can quickly view the systems that are used by your data types. This information is useful for assessing the effect of migrating to a new system of record and for understanding your data model.
For more information, see Creating an integration system.
Use client-based access control to support EU GDPR requirements
Valid from Pega Version 8.1
You can use client-based access control (CBAC) to satisfy the data privacy requirements of the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and similar regulations. By using client-based access control, you can identify the personal data of clients and automatically process requests to view, update, or remove the data in a secure manner. You can also enforce restrictions on the use of this data in application functions.
For more information, see Client-based access control.
More quality metrics on the Application Quality dashboard
Valid from Pega Version 8.1
On the Application Quality dashboard, for each case type you can now view quality metrics such as guardrail score, test coverage percentage, unit test pass rate, list of guardrail of warnings, uncovered rules, and failed Pega unit tests. These metrics are also available for rules that are used in the application but that are not a part of any case type. To access these metrics, on the Application Quality dashboard list of case types, click Find issues.
For more information, see Application Quality landing page.
Enhanced Pulse performance and layout on mobile devices
Valid from Pega Version 8.1
Pulse performance is now faster on mobile devices. The user interface has been enhanced to enable better collaboration among users. The new Pulse mobile layout provides a better user experience for posting messages, adding attachments, bookmarking content, and so on.
For more information about Pulse, see:
- App Studio – Communicating with users by using Pulse
- Dev Studio – Communicating with users by using Pulse
Collaborate on shared content by using documents
Valid from Pega Version 8.1
You can now share additional information about cases with all users in your application by using documents. Documents enable you to view shared content on a landing page and collaborate on the content with other users in Pulse so that you can resolve cases more quickly.
For more information, see:
- App Studio – Collaborating on shared content by using documents
- Dev Studio – Collaborating on shared content by using documents
Ability to edit and copy data from an email to case properties for an Email channel
Valid from Pega Version 8.1
The procedure for triaging an email case has been improved to help automate the process and to ensure that the case data is always up-to-date and accurate. The system can pull data, such as a date, name, or an address, out of the received email or its attachments, and automatically assign the data to a spun-off business case property. To help the system learn, you can highlight using a color, edit entity types, and map entity types for an email triage case to business case properties. You can also update cases with new properties, if triage cases are identified as duplicates and contain new detected properties. Each mapped entity type is marked in different color and an entity map legend helps you identify what each color represents.
For more information, see Email triage and Defining suggested cases for the Email channel.
Relevant records management shows more information
Valid from Pega Version 8.1
Relevant records for a class now include more information that you can use to manage the records for your application development. As a result of these enhancements, you can:
- View inherited and inactive relevant records for the specified class.
- Mark specific records as active or inactive for the specified class.
- Mark specific records as relevant on the rule form.
You can use these new details to filter the list of relevant records for a class on the Relevant Records tab of the selected class. For more information, see Managing relevant records and Marking records as relevant records.
