getRuleMessage APIs no longer prepend asterisks

The Public APIs getRuleMessage(String aMsgDescr) and getRuleMessage(String aMsgDescr,String messageClass) no longer prepend asterisks ("**") to the message description when they fail to find a Rule-Message instance whose name matches the input message description. For information about these APIs, access the Public API documentation in Designer Studio by clicking Resources > Engine API.

Stakeholder management extended to case followers

You can now control which users follow a case. By actively involving the people with relevant skills and roles in your application, you can resolve cases more quickly.

Enhanced tables in Cosmos React UI

The Pega Platform™ Cosmos React UI environment now includes improved tables. The updated tables use a revamped graphic design and support a number of new run-time behaviors, including column freezing and advanced filtering. The added features improve the user experience by giving case workers more control over data in tables, while the revised architecture enhances efficiency and reliability.

Hierarchical table overhaul

The hierarchical table layout now uses a redesigned architecture that enhances stability and presentation. This update also improves accessibility by implementing ARIA guidelines and introducing keyboard navigation in tables.

Response timeout configuration for predictions

You can now set a response timeout for your predictions in Prediction Studio. By setting a response timeout, you control how Prediction Studio registers customer responses that later serve as feedback data for your predictions.

Internal rules in search results and explorers

Using old: is no longer supported in search. You can include internal rules in search results and make them available in the Application and Records explorers. Include internal rules in search results either by adding the PegaDevelopmentruleset to your application or by clicking the Enable diagnostic features option in your operator preferences.

Custom application URL alias in the application definition

Create application URL aliases that support your ability to launch multiple Pega applications simultaneously in a single browser. This feature makes it easier for clients and your customers to log into multiple applications using the same browser and access them simultaneously. You configure your application URL alias in the application definition. For details, see Adding an application URL alias.

Upgrade impact

After an upgrade to Pega Platform™ 8.4 and later, review to determine if and how you must update your application rules to reflect the current URL aliasing format. As part of these application rule updates, Pega also updated the URL format and value components of the clipboard property, pxRequestor.pxReqServletNameReal, which you can use to discover a servlet name. If your application uses this property to discover a servlet name, update the pxRequestor.pxReqServlet property in the application rule to use the new, required URL and value formats.

What steps should the customer take to update their application?

After upgrading, you must update your JMeter test scripts. For detailed steps, see Updating JMeter test scripts after migrating to Pega 8.4.

Preflight optimization extended to actions

The preflight optimization process now excludes JavaScript for actions that are not used in the application. To enable preflight optimization, click Designer Studio > User Interface > Application readiness > Preflight optimization.

Ability to include all properties in search results

You can now include all properties in a class in search results so that they can be used in report filtering. When the Enable search results for all properties option is selected on the Custom Search Properties rule form, all top level and embedded page scalar properties for the class are indexed and returned in search results, and all embedded page list, page group, value list, and value group properties for the class are indexed but not returned in search results. Selecting this option might affect performance.

In addition, by default, properties defined in the Data-Tag-RelevantRecord instance for a class are indexed and returned in search results and do not need to be explicitly configured.

You must reindex search after selecting or clearing Enable search results for all properties and after changing the properties that are defined in the Data-Tag-RelevantRecord instance.

Pega API available in Pega Express

The Pega^® API is now included on the Channels and Interfaces dashboard in Pega Express. You can configure Pega APIs to access Pega application functionality directly from Pega Express without switching to Designer Studio.
