Use fast processing option does not work

Valid from Pega Version 7.3.1

The Use fast processing option on Connect REST and Service REST rule forms does not work unless you obtain the HFix-43000 hotfix from Global Customer Service.

Use the following data model guidelines when using fast processing:

  • The JSON property names and the clipboard property names must match.
  • The JSON tree structure and the clipboard tree structure must be similar.
  • The scalar arrays in JSON must be mapped to the clipboard as page lists.
  • Multi-dimensional arrays must be mapped into page lists of page lists with the same embedded property names.

In addition, page groups, value groups, and Java objects are not supported by fast processing.

Security fields in JFrog Artifactory repository do not work

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

The fields in the Security section of the JFrog Artifactory repository rule form, including the Secure protocol field, the Truststore field, and the Keystore field, were not implemented. In the Pega™ Platform 7.3 Designer Studio help, disregard the optional Security section in step 4 of the Configuring a JFrog Artifactory or Amazon S3 repository connection help topic, and disregard the optional Security section in step 5 of the Creating a repository configuration help topic in the 7.3.1 Designer Studio help.

Behavior changes when reporting on descendant classes

Valid from Pega Version 7.3.1

Report Definitions that use the Report on descendant class instances option with the Include all descendant classes option apply only to the Applies to Class. Join classes are not included as they were in previous Pega® Platform versions. The following example shows what happens for each possible scenario for Report on descendant class instances when the report is defined on ClassA with a class join with Work-.

  • If Report on descendant class instances is disabled, the report runs against ClassA and the join happens with Work-. The behavior is the same in Pega 7.3.1 as it is in previous Pega Platform versions.
  • If Report on descendant class instances is enabled, and Include single implementation class is selected, the report runs against ClassA and the join happens with the MySampleClass implementation class. The behavior is the same in Pega 7.3.1 as it is in previous Pega Platform versions.
  • If Report on descendant class instances is enabled, and Include all descendant classes is selected, the report runs against ClassA and its descendants and the join happens with Work-. In previous Pega Platform versions, the join happened with the MySampleClass implementation class.

Upgrading Adaptive Decision Manager data mart tables might fail

Valid from Pega Version 7.3.1

Issue: Upgrade from 7.3 to 7.3.1 fails if the data contained in the pxInsName column of the PR_DATA_DM_ADMMART_PRED_FACT table is longer than 128 characters.

Reason: During the Pega Platform™ upgrade from 7.3 to 7.3.1, data in the Adaptive Decision Manager (ADM) data mart tables is migrated from the PR_DATA_DM_ADMMART_PRED_FACT table to the PR_DATA_DM_ADMMART_MDL_FACT table. In Pega 7.3.1, ADM uses only the PR_DATA_DM_ADMMART_MDL_FACT table where the pxInsName property can store values that are 128 characters long. In Pega Platform 7.3, the pxInsName property in the PR_DATA_DM_ADMMART_PRED_FACT table can store values that are 255 characters long. If the pxInsName property contains values that are longer that 128 characters, the upgrade fails.

Resolution: Issue an ALTER TABLE statement to change the pxInsName column size to 255 characters and resume the upgrade. For example:

ALTER TABLE rules.pr_data_dm_admmart_pred ALTER COLUMN pxInsName TYPE varchar(255);

For more information, see Adaptive Decision Manager data model.

Experimental high-speed data page support

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

An experimental implementation of high-speed, read-only data pages is available. This implementation is useful when data pages are used to hold static data that is used repeatedly. You can enable this feature for a specific read-only data page from the Load Management tab of the data page rule form by clicking Enable high-performance read-only data page. This feature does not support full clipboard page functionality; use with caution.

The following functionality is supported:

  • Basic page and property access (read and write properties) for all normal data types
  • Hierarchical data page structure (pages within pages)
  • Dictionary validation mode
  • Read-only data pages

The following functionality is not supported:

  • Declarative rules
  • Page messages
  • Complex property references
  • Saving pages to a database
  • API access to the data page

Add the security checklist to applications created before 7.3.1

Valid from Pega Version 7.3.1

The security checklist is now automatically added to applications. You can manually add the security checklist to applications that were created in earlier versions.

You can improve the security of your application by completing the tasks on the checklist.

The following task reflects the procedure on how to manually add the security checklists to Designer Studio prior to 7.3.1:

  1. In the header of Designer Studio, click the name of the application, and then click Definition.
  2. Click the Documentation tab.
  3. In the Application guides section, click Add guide.
  4. In the Application guide& field, enter pxApplicationSecurityChecklist.
  5. Click the Configure icon in the Available in column and select the portals (App Studio and Dev Studio) that you want to add the security checklist to.
  6. Click Save.

Support for sending emails by using Microsoft Graph

Valid from Pega Version 8.6

Email integration with Microsoft Office 365 now supports sending emails by using Microsoft Graph. With this enhancement, you can send email with a more secure protocol that complies with your organization’s security policy.

For more information, see Creating an email account.

App Studio enhancements further support Pega Express methodology

Valid from Pega Version 8.6

App Studio now includes improvements that you can use to plan your Microjourney™ in a more convenient way. The Overview workspace now includes a button to edit application details, such as name, description, and business objectives, without having to switch to Dev Studio. You can also access relevant information faster, because Case Designer displays additional details about channels, data objects, and attachments associated with a case type directly in a properties pane. For improved management of your features, feature categories are now available in the application inventory so that you can clearly communicate to your development team what type of features need implementation.

Conversation flow and smart shapes for the Digital Messaging chatbots

Valid from Pega Version 8.6

When creating Pega Intelligent Virtual Assistant™ (IVA) for Digital Messaging, chatbot developers can now use new conversation smart shapes in a dedicated flow, making the design process simpler, more robust, and intuitive. With the new smart shapes, the chatbot displays text messages or asks questions to users in one of several ways. In addition, developers do not have to create additional rules, switch tabs, or perform manual validation. You can associate the conversation flow that you create for your IVA with a business case, use the flow on its own, or reuse it in another conversation flow, improving the overall chatbot design process.

For more information, see Adding a stand-alone conversation process for a conversational channel, Adding a case type conversation process for a conversational channel, Editing the conversation smart shapes and Flow shapes.

Support for REST connectors to route network traffic via proxy

Valid from Pega Version 8.6

To easily route network traffic, you can now configure proxy details for individual REST connectors. This enhancement allows you to manage your proxy settings so that you can securely access online resources that lie beyond your proxy servers.

For more information, see Configuring a REST connector.
