Improved diagnostics and logging for Decision Data Store nodes

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

On the Decision Data Store tab, you can view additional metrics from the Decision Data Store nodes that help with diagnosing Cassandra database problems. You can also set the logging level to control interactions from and to Decision Data Store nodes.

For more information, see Decision Data Service node status information and Configuring the Decision Data Store service.

Tracing Cassandra queries in a Decision Data Store data set

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

You can now enable the Trace option for every operation in the Decision Data Store data set to collect information about how the Decision Data Store queries are executed in Cassandra. You can view this information in the clipboard and use it to troubleshoot and optimize performance of the Decision Data Store data sets and Decision Data Store nodes. All the queries and related events are collected on the DDSTraces page on the same Pega thread.

For more information, see Tracing Decision Data Store operations.

Capture real-time feedback with Agile Workbench

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

Project stakeholders can use the new Agile Workbench tool to capture real-time feedback directly in an application, which can increase the efficiency of application development. You capture feedback by creating a user story, bug, or feedback item, and these work items can include video recordings of screens, annotated screen captures, file attachments, or URLs. In Designer Studio, you can configure Agile Workbench to integrate with Pega® Agile Studio so that bugs and user stories are synchronized between the two systems.

Enhancements to PegaUnit test cases

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

Several enhancements have been made to PegaUnit test cases.

  • You can now use the following new comparators for the page assertion:
    • Has errors – The assertion passes if the system finds all the pages for which there are errors.
    • Has no errors – The assertion passes if the system finds all the pages for which there are no errors.
  • You can now export a list of all the PegaUnit test cases that are in the system or that are configured on a specific rule type to Microsoft Excel format.
  • You can now view PegaUnit test cases for built-on applications.

For more information, see the Configuring page assertions and Exporting PegaUnit test cases help topics.

End of support for Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 and quirks mode applications in Pega 7.1.9

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.9

In accordance with Microsoft’s announcement to discontinue support for Internet Explorer 8 in January 2016, Pega 7.1.9 does not support Internet Explorer 8, nor does it support non-HTML5 standard user interfaces.

You must upgrade to Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 or later or use Google Chrome, Apple Safari, or Mozilla Firefox. If you are using Internet Explorer 9 or later, you must turn off compatibility mode by accessing the Compatibility View settings.

Note the following:

  • Pega 7.1.9 does not support user interface rules that are not based on HTML5 standards (rules in quirks mode).
  • If you use applications that are rendered in quirks mode, which enables Pega 7 to correctly display and render non-HTML5 standard user interfaces, you must update them to standards-based HTML5 user interfaces when you upgrade to Pega 7.1.9 or later. Pega 7 provides automated tools to help you migrate your applications.
  • Pegasystems Global Customer Support will not investigate or fix any Pega 7.1.9 bugs or support requests that are exclusive to Internet Explorer 8 or quirks mode user interfaces.

You can quickly identify which components of your application user interface are not HTML5 standards-based by clicking Designer Studio > User Interface > HTML5 Application Readiness.

Upgrading to Pega 7.1.9 and a newer browser offers the following benefits:

  • These browsers are HTML5 and CSS3 compliant.
  • New features are supported and existing features work as intended.
  • The Pega 7 Platform user interface is displayed and rendered as intended.
  • Browser security is enhanced.

If you have additional questions about browser support, see the Platform Support Guide or contact Pegasystems Global Customer Support.
