Security fields in JFrog Artifactory repository do not work

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

The fields in the Security section of the JFrog Artifactory repository rule form, including the Secure protocol field, the Truststore field, and the Keystore field, were not implemented. In the Pega™ Platform 7.3 Designer Studio help, disregard the optional Security section in step 4 of the Configuring a JFrog Artifactory or Amazon S3 repository connection help topic, and disregard the optional Security section in step 5 of the Creating a repository configuration help topic in the 7.3.1 Designer Studio help.

Improve cluster security by limiting concurrent operator sessions

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

You can increase the security of a Pega® Platform cluster by limiting the number of concurrent sessions allowed for each operator. Because operators typically do not require multiple concurrent sessions for performing their work, limiting the number of sessions reduces the chance that an unknown or untrusted person could access systems in the cluster. Use the new setting Number of concurrent sessions allowed for each operator on the Production tab of the System Data Instance form to configure the number of concurrent sessions for operators. You must restart your system when you change this setting. You can also create a list of operators by using the presence/maxsessions/operators/whitelist Dynamic System Setting, to which the maximum number of concurrent sessions setting will not apply.

For more information, see System form - Completing the Production tab.

Custom PL/Java Modules for PostgreSQL 9.3

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.8

To install Pega 7 for PostgreSQL 9.3, you must first install the version of PL/Java included in your resource kit. Follow the installation instructions located in:

<Pega 7 installation directory>\ResourceKit\ResourceKitREADME.txt.

Note that if you do not install PL/Java before you attempt to install Pega 7, then the Pega 7 installation fails.

Configuration required for data operations on external schema when using a Postgres database

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.8

When you use the API for data operations on external schema in the Postgres database, you must update the prconfig.xml file. No other platform requires a prconfig.xml update.

To update the prconfig.xml file:

  1. Stop the server and add the following entry to the prconfig.xml file:
    env name="database/databases/postgres_ext/defaultSchema"
    value="externalschema"
where postgres_ext is the external database that uses the external schema “externalschema”.
  2. Restart the server.

Data encryption across search nodes

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

You can now encrypt communication among search nodes. Encryption secures the data that is transferred across nodes so that it cannot be accessed by unauthorized hosts. Encryption is enabled by default for new installations and upgrades from Pega® 7.1.6 or earlier to Pega 7.3. Encryption is not enabled by default for upgrades from Pega 7.1.7 or later to Pega 7.3. You can enable and disable search encryption from the Search landing page or by using the indexing/distributed/enable_inter_node_encryption Dynamic System Setting.

For more information, see Enabling and disabling encryption for communication among search nodes.

New form of the HBase rule

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.8

There is a new form of the HBase rule. While you cannot create any new instances of the Pega 7.1.7 HBase rule, legacy instances in your application remain functional. You can still use the Pega 7.1.7 instances of the HBase rule, but you cannot make changes to them.

SystemCleaner agent is split into node-level and cluster-level agents

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

The Pega-RULES:SystemCleaner agent has been split into node-level and cluster-level agents to avoid database performance issues. The new node-level agent, Pega-RulesEngine:NodeCleaner, runs on all the nodes in the cluster, while the new cluster-level agent, Pega-RulesEngine:ClusterAndDBCleaner, runs on only one node in the cluster. If you customized the agent schedules of the Pega-RULES:SystemCleaner agent, you must manually update the agent schedules of the new agents because customized schedules are not retained.

For more information, see Agent schedule data instances – Completing the Schedule tab.

Precision of Oracle Timestamp property when using RDB-Save

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.8

DateTime properties that are mapped to an Oracle Timestamp column will experience a loss of precision when they are saved using the RDB-Save method. When you use RDB-Save for an Oracle Timestamp, precision will be accurate to the second. For example, a value of 20171119T124745.006 will be saved as 20171119T124745. When you use Obj-Save, precision will be accurate to the millisecond. For more information, see DateTime property mapping in Oracle for Pega 7.

No video controllers displayed on Android 4.3 and earlier versions

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

When you preview a video clip within Pega® Mobile Client on a mobile device that runs Android 4.3 or earlier versions, video controllers are not displayed in full-screen mode.

Case types and data types open in a landing page

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

In Pega® Express, Case Designer and the Data Designer now open in a landing page rather than a modal dialog. This enhancement improves the user experience for creating and updating case types and data types.
