List view and summary view reports might not display in HTML5-compliant browsers

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.7

List view and summary view reports use framesets to provide a view of drill-down reports. HTML5 does not support framesets, so these reports might not display well, or at all, in versions of browsers that are compliant with HTML5.

To prevent display issues, re-create the custom list view and summary view reports that you need as report definition reports. Standard management reports are already available as report definition reports.

As of Pega 7.2, list view and summary view rules are deprecated. For more information, see Discontinued support for list view and summary view rules.

Add multiple attachments at once

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.7

You can now add more than one attachment to a requirement or specification at a time, without closing the Add/Edit Attachment modal dialog box. Use the traditional browse method to upload an attachment or drag and drop a local file, based on your needs. View and access your attachments from the Application Profile landing page, Requirement form, or Specification form.

View agent activity and status more efficiently

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.7

The Designer Studio > System > Operations menu has been updated with several additional tabs detailing system information pertinent to an active server node running on a system, along with its requestors, log utilities, and purge/archive utilities. The link to the System Management Application tool has also been moved to the Designer Studio > System > Operations menu in this release.

Previously, to understand your system, you had to access every node on your system individually. With this update, the information available on these tabs allows you to view all agents across a cluster to determine if an agent is active and in-depth details about the agent in a more efficient manner.

Updates to the Attach Content control

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.7

Several updates have been made to the Attach Content (pxAttachContent) control, resulting in a faster and more efficient file attachment process. New features include:

  • Responsive UI that allows the control attachment screen to conform to various UI sizes across any device accessing the application
  • A bigger drop-zone for adding files
  • The option to simultaneously add multiple files when using either the file browser or drag-and-drop functionality
  • The ability to display the control as either a button, link, or as an icon within an application
  • Built-in camera integration on mobile devices, which supports the selection of image files directly from a mobile device’s camera roll
  • Safeguards that halt the attachment process upon cancelling an attach action

For more information, see PDN article: How to use the Attach Content control.

Improved capability to attach content in offline-enabled applications

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

The feature for attaching content in applications while in offline mode has been enhanced. A list of attached content is displayed in the application while in offline mode. You can view or delete attachments if the application has not yet been synchronized with the server. You also can change the maximum size of a file that you can attach while working in offline mode. This option gives you the flexibility to select the right size of attachment for a specific application for performance, memory limitation, or security reasons.

For more information, see Attach content support in offline mode.

View a record of Case Designer updates on the case type rule History tab

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.7

The History tab on case type rules now automatically records a history of rules edited or created from the Case Designer Stages & Processes tab. This feature allows system architects to review updates made by business analysts and other developers. It also allows business analysts to easily convey to fellow team members a record of configuration changes.

See More about Case Type rules.

Work attachment indexing fails with IBM SDK Java 6

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.7

Indexing of work attachments fails when you use IBM SDK Java 6 with Pega 7.1.7 through Pega 7.2. The workaround is to switch to IBM SDK Java 7 or Oracle JDK Java 1.6. You can also disable attachment indexing from the Search landing page; however, if you do this, you are not be able to search the content of attachments.

Edit process-based case type flows in Case Designer Process Outline view

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.7

If your case type does not employ a stage-based design, you can now employ the Step Tree and other features available in Process Outline view to facilitate your design.

Click a process tile in the Stages & Processes tab to open the flow in Process Outline. In this example, the Graffitti report is selected.

Create pluggable web storage components for case and Pulse attachments

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

You can now implement and post your own pluggable web storage components for use with case and Pulse attachments. These web components can be plugged in to Pega® Platform without the need to make changes to Pega Platform itself. The ability to create a pluggable web storage component is useful when you want to use a web storage provider that does not have an existing pluggable web storage component.

For more information, see Guidelines for creating pluggable components for storing and sourcing case and Pulse attachments.

Flow action and attachment category rule types moved to Process category

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.7

The flow action and attachment category rule types now appear in the Process category within the Record and Application Explorers. Previously, they were in the User Interface and Security categories, respectively.
