Improved diagnostics and logging for Decision Data Store nodes

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

On the Decision Data Store tab, you can view additional metrics from the Decision Data Store nodes that help with diagnosing Cassandra database problems. You can also set the logging level to control interactions from and to Decision Data Store nodes.

For more information, see Decision Data Service node status information and Configuring the Decision Data Store service.

Tracing Cassandra queries in a Decision Data Store data set

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

You can now enable the Trace option for every operation in the Decision Data Store data set to collect information about how the Decision Data Store queries are executed in Cassandra. You can view this information in the clipboard and use it to troubleshoot and optimize performance of the Decision Data Store data sets and Decision Data Store nodes. All the queries and related events are collected on the DDSTraces page on the same Pega thread.

For more information, see Tracing Decision Data Store operations.

Security enhancements in offline-enabled applications

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

To enhance the security of an offline-enabled application, you can now set the time period during which a user of an offline-enabled application stays logged in before the lock screen is displayed. The password, lockout, audit, and operator disablement security policy settings are supported in offline-enabled applications. For example, if a user enters an incorrect password several times and is locked out of the account, you can specify in minutes for how long the user is prevented from logging back in.

For more information, see Setting maximum login time.

Microsoft Silverlight no longer supported in Mozilla Firefox 52

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

Beginning with Mozilla Firefox 52, Firefox no longer supports NPAPI-based browser plug-ins, including Microsoft Silverlight. Pega Platform features that use Silverlight, such as merging case data into a Microsoft Word template, no longer work.

For more information, see End of Support for Microsoft Silverlight in Mozilla Firefox 52.

New service for generating OAuth 2.0 client credentials

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

Pega® Platform now includes the oauthclients service package that provides a REST service for generating OAuth 2.0 client credentials. By using the client registration service, you can dynamically register OAuth 2.0 clients. The new service is secured by an existing OAuth service. Access tokens that are issued by the existing OAuth service are accepted as initial access tokens by the new service.

For more information, see OAuth 2.0 Client Registration data instances.

Create pre-import and post-import steps

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

To take specific actions based on archive metadata, add pre-import and post-import action steps to collections. For example, you can configure a pre-import activity to automatically verify that an archive meets certain criteria before you import the archive. If the archive does not meet the criteria, Pega® Platform does not import the archive.

For more information, see Pre-import and post-import collections.

Enhanced security of Robotic Desktop Automation requests

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

Security enhancements have been introduced in the communication (data synchronization or pulling data) between your application that uses robotic desktop automation functionality and Pega® Platform. These applications (web, desktop, and legacy) communicate with Pega Platform through connectors. No additional configuration is necessary.

For more information, see Robotic automation.

Associate rules and project management work items with features

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

You can now link a project management work item with a rule when you create a rule, check in a rule, and save a rule as a new rule, which automatically links the rule with any features that are associated with the project management work item. Associating project management work items, rules, and features maintains traceability and makes it easier for you to extend the application, because you can identify the rules that are associated with each feature. On the Application Overview landing page, you can also link existing rules directly to features in the Associated rules section of a feature.

For more information, see Associating existing rules with a feature.

Record Editor and data import enhancements

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

The Record Editor and Import wizard for data types have been enhanced to make the import process faster and easier to use. You can now perform the following tasks.

  • Configure the Record Editor to use full-text search, which makes searching faster.
  • Configure the location of the data import error file. For example, you can set the location to a shared location so that users can access the file from any node in a multinode system.
  • Pass the keys of the records that were added, updated, or matched directly to custom postprocessing without additional database I/O.
  • Search and filter records and export only the results instead of all records.
  • Stop an import that is in progress.

Full support for Unicode characters in Pega Express

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

Pega® Express now supports Unicode characters when you name properties, case types, and data types. Languages that use multibyte characters, such as Japanese and Hindi, are now fully supported. An administrator can enable Unicode support for Pega Express by configuring a Dynamic System Setting in Designer Studio.

For more information, see Enabling Unicode character support for object names.
