Savable data pages support loading pages individually from a page list

Valid from Pega Version 8.5

You can now load individual pages in a page list from single object data pages to your case and data types. This functionality allows you to save autopopulated properties with the Load each page individually option using a flow action, save data page smart shape, or the activity method.

Retention of mashup state on browser refresh

Valid from Pega Version 8.5

Mashup configuration now includes an option to retain the state of the mashup after the user refreshes the browser that displays the mashup. In previous releases, when users refreshed a browser window with a case in a mashup, the system discarded the state of the case and then created a new case. Now, you can enable the mashup to use the values in the Clipboard tool from before the refresh. This enhancement helps users seamlessly continue their work after a browser refresh.

Improved mobile channel user experience

Valid from Pega Version 8.5

Mobile channel authoring now includes two significant enhancements to the user experience. The new instant run-time preview makes security configuration more convenient. In addition, the offline tab is now present by default, to help you build offline-enabled mobile apps and complete assignments in areas with limited connectivity.

Enhanced swipe support for case actions

Valid from Pega Version 8.5

UI authoring in the mobile channel now offers more case-wide actions that can be performed by swiping on list items. For example, you can add a swipe action to attach an invoice to your expense work item. This enhancement increases usability and work efficiency as it allows for fast, instinctive mobile interactions.

Custom DX API attributes for auto-generated controls

Valid from Pega Version 8.5

Auto-generated controls now include the option to add custom attributes for use with the Pega Digital Experience (DX) API. The attributes are part of the DX API response to the front end and you can use them to modify the run-time behavior of the UI elements in your application. For example, you can add an attribute to a field that displays a tooltip text for that field at run time. This enhancement introduces significant flexibility to application development and gives you greater control over UI components.

Searching for Pulse messages available in spaces

Valid from Pega Version 8.5

Pega Platform™ now supports searching for Pulse messages within a space. For greater accuracy of the results, you can search by applying different filters, such as keywords, message authors, and a time range for posting of the messages. The results return private and public posts, comments, and attachments that match the search filters. When the result is a comment, Pulse displays the whole message thread for full context.

Gadget configuration by using IAC gateway console is no longer supported

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.1

The Internet Application Composer (IAC) gateway was deprecated in Pega Platform™ 7.2.1 and is no longer supported. The IAC was used to embed a Pega Platform application, such as a gadget, on the pages of a web application that was located on your intranet, extranet, or internet site.

Upgrade impact

After an upgrade to Pega Platform 8.5, the configuration of gadgets through the IAC gateway console is no longer supported.

What steps are required to update the application to be compatible with this change?

To make subsequent changes to your current web mashup, use Pega Web Mashup.

Alerts for long-running queue processor and job scheduler activities

Valid from Pega Version 8.5

Pega Platform™ now saves an alert in the performance alert log when a queue processor activity or a scheduled job runs longer than the configured threshold value. Use the alerts to identify potential performance issues with long-running processes.

The alerts are enabled by default. You can change the alerts for dedicated queue processors and job schedulers at the rules level. For standard queue processors, you can also set the threshold value for the Queue-For-Processing command in an activity. You disable the alerts in dynamic system settings.

Automatic draft off mode for processes in case types

Valid from Pega Version 8.5

App Studio now supports automatically turning off the draft mode for processes in your case types. Any process that you add to a case type is in draft mode by default so that you can run the case type to check the run-time behavior even if the process contains errors. However, in a production environment, processes in draft mode do not work. To save time and deliver your projects faster, any process that has no errors now automatically switches off draft mode when you save the case type. Additionally, Case Designer now displays a list of errors that processes in your case type include, so that you can quickly locate any issues.

Usability improvements in the Email Manager and Case Manager portals

Valid from Pega Version 8.5

Pega Email Bot™ customer service representatives (CSRs) working in the Email Manager, Case Manager, or Case Worker portals can now quickly reply to one recipient or to all recipients. CSRs can also view the sentiment analysis of an email (positive, negative, or neutral) for each received email, displaying the sentiment pattern for the entire email thread in a triage case. The email bot improvements add value for CSRs working in the portals and help them save time when responding to user requests.
