File sharing improvements in custom mobile apps

Case management in custom mobile apps that are built for Android and iOS using Pega Infinity Mobile Client™ is now improved with the enhanced Attach content control. You can now attach files of any type from the device storage and from cloud services, for example, Google Drive or iCloud, or from other mobile apps that are installed on the device. Additionally, you can share any file attachments, except for signature files, in external mobile apps.

Data migration enhancements

Ensure a successful data migration by using a configuration template for setting up your environment before you migrate data into your application. From the new Migration settings landing page, configure dynamic system settings for migration and turn off database indexes and processes that might affect data migration performance. After you have finished migrating data, you can revert your system to its normal working state.

Savable data pages support loading pages individually from a page list

You can now load individual pages in a page list from single object data pages to your case and data types. This functionality allows you to save autopopulated properties with the Load each page individually option using a flow action, save data page smart shape, or the activity method.

Task board enhancements for improved tracking of tasks

App Studio and end-user portals, such as Case Manager, now provide an enhanced task board which helps you improve collaboration on task resolution. For example, you can create a checklist within a task, and then update the checklist to inform other users about the progress of the task. Attach content to a task to ensure that all users have the information that they need, and to make tasks more meaningful. Now you can also categorize tasks, and then filter them by category, to quickly access relevant information.

More efficient navigation between applications in App Studio

The new My Applications gadget helps you switch applications in App Studio more conveniently. You can also search applications by name instead of choosing an application from the list, and then select the access role that you want to use. In addition, you can see descriptions of your applications and create an application by going to the My Applications landing page. To use the My Applications gadget, ensure that you update the UI Kit to version 14.

Consistent search experience in App Studio

Pega Platform™ now supports a unified search mechanism in App Studio. Instead of manually locating a single item, such as a case type, a channel, or a data object, you can simply use the Search option in the navigation pane. You can also use Search in case types and personas landing pages, to conveniently access the information that you need, for example channels and case types associated with a persona.

Improved experience when building an IVA and Email Bot in App Studio

Build your Pega Intelligent Virtual Assistant™ (IVA) and Pega Email Bot™ while working only in App Studio. This approach makes the design process easier and more intuitive, and saves you time. You can now modify the advanced text analyzer configuration while working in App Studio. In addition, if you have access to Dev Studio, you can edit the text analyzer rule from App Studio for your chatbot or email bot by clicking a link to open the settings in Dev Studio.

Improved management of batch indexing

You can now cancel and check the status of a batch index process directly from the Search landing page in Dev Studio. The landing page now refreshes automatically every 10 seconds so that you can easily see the most recent status of the batch index process. Additionally, the reindex operation is now 20% faster than in previous versions. These features provide greater visibility into batch indexing and improve your ability to fix issues with a batch indexing process.

Support for regular performance alerts

You can now specify how often Pega Platform™ sends you performance alerts about SLA violations in data flow runs. By default, the interval is 5 seconds for single case data flows and 5 minutes for batch and real-time data flows.

The following dynamic system settings control the alert interval:

• Single case runs: dataflow/singlecase/alert/throttleTime
• Batch runs: dataflow/batch/alert/throttleTime
• Real-time runs: dataflow/realtime/alert/throttleTime

Ability to periodically defragment the PR_SYS_LOCKS table

Lock management in Pega 7 is controlled through the database table PR_SYS_LOCKS. Because of the high volume of entries inserted into and deleted from this table during case processing, the data in the PR_SYS_LOCKS table can become highly fragmented, causing degraded performance over time.

You can now periodically defragment this table. The following Dynamic System Settings control when and how often defragmentation takes place using DefragSysLocksDaemon:

• syslocks/defragIntervalType

  • ​Custom interval type to run defragmentation

  • Set this first – determines whether defragmentation occurs daily at a specified hour or at a recurring interval

• ​syslocks/defragHourOfDay
  • ​​Used to run defragmentation at a specified hour
  • Accepts only integer values in the range 0-23
  • Example: run defragmentation daily at 1 AM by entering a value of "1"

  • Can be ignored if syslocks/defragIntervalType indicates a a specified periodic interval

• syslocks/defragIntervalInHours
  • Used to run defragmentation at specified periodic intervals
  • Accepts only integer values > 0

  • Example: run defragmentation every four hours by entering a value of "4"

  • Can be ignored if syslocks/defragIntervalType indicates a specified hour
