Configuring geolocation tracking at the case level

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

You can now enable geolocation tracking at a case level to track users of an offline-enabled custom mobile app. By tracking users who are working on a case, you can monitor or supervise them while they are using the custom mobile app and when the app is running in the background. You can also track users when the device is not connected to the server. Recorded locations are synchronized with the server and stored in a database that is available through a data page. When Pega Platform™ receives location data, the new Map control can display multiple user tracks and markers that represent other data, for example, job locations that are assigned to users.

For more information, see Tracking mobile end users with the Map control and Adding the map control.

REST APIs for system management

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

New REST APIs are available for reports, agent management, requestor management, cache management, queue processing, and node management. Call these APIs to troubleshoot issues, or perform administrative functions in Cloud applications.

For more information, see Pega API.

Authentication profile for Connect REST might be removed after upgrade

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

The Use authentication check box has been removed from the Service tab on the Connect REST form. As a result, after an upgrade, the Authentication profile field might be blank even if an authentication profile was previously configured.

  • If the Use authentication check box was cleared prior to upgrading and the Authentication profile field was configured with an authentication profile name, the Authentication profile field is blank. If you are using authentication, you must reenter the profile name.
  • If the Use authentication check box was selected prior to upgrading and the Authentication profile field was configured with an authentication profile name, the Authentication profile field retains the previous configuration.

Define participants for case types

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

You can now configure participants more easily for case types. By defining case participants, you can indicate their relationship with a case and share important case updates with them. You can update case participants at run time, route assignments and approvals to them, and send notifications to them when goals and deadlines are not met.

For more information, see Participant configuration for case types.

Data view management added to Data Designer

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

You can now manage data views, called data pages in Dev Studio, in the Data Designer in App Studio. You can change a data view's data source without switching to Dev Studio. You can create a JSON mapping using a visual, drag-and-drop mapper.

For more information, see Data view management.

View data type relationships in Data Designer

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

You can now access a visual depiction of the relationships among data types from the Data Designer in App Studio. By understanding how data types depend on properties and other data types, you can extend your data model more quickly.

For more information, see Viewing data relationships.

Import only new instances of specific classes

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

To bypass updates for specific classes and only import new instances of those types, edit the product rule definition.  For more information, see Specifying product rule deployment options.

Post private messages in Pulse

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

You can now post messages in Pulse to initiate conversations with selected users within a context. By posting private messages, you can discuss specific topics with relevant users without broadcasting them to all users.

For more information, see:

New themes in App Studio

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

New themes in App Studio determine the default colors for elements in your user interface, such as buttons and links, as well as your typography. By selecting a theme in App Studio, you can quickly apply a consistent style to your application and save development time by not having to edit the application skin in Dev Studio.

For more information, see Changing your theme.

New tile view in Report Browser

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

The Report Browser now displays available reports in a tile view, in addition to the list view. You can toggle between the two display formats. The report tiles provide a thumbnail preview of each report, which makes it easier for you to identify reports at a glance, without having to open each report.

For more information, see Report Browser features.
