Optimized performance of Proposition Filter rules using audience simulation tests

Valid from Pega Version 8.4

Improve the performance of your proposition filters by testing them against simulated audiences. You can check how many potential offers are being filtered by each condition of the filter, and discover if a particular criterion is too broad or too narrow for your requirements.

For more information, see Optimize the performance of your Proposition Filter rules with audience simulation tests (8.4).

Support for seamless transitions between IVAs and customer service representatives

Valid from Pega Version 8.4

To ensure the best user experience in chat sessions with a Pega Intelligent Virtual Assistant™ (IVA), customer service representatives (CSRs) can now step in and take control of a chat session multiple times, when the chatbot is not capable of correctly answering the user. After the user problem is resolved, the CSR can seamlessly switch control of the chat session back to the chatbot.

Enhancements to automations for defining Pega API contracts

Valid from Pega Version 8.4

With enhanced automations, you can now pass embedded pages, specify default values for optional input parameters, and define a set of values for inputs by using the picklist or enumerated field types. The new enhancements make your applications easier to define and maintain, and you can now provide callers of Pega APIs with a clear description of the API.

For more information, see Viewing automations.

Anypicker control in a condition builder

Valid from Pega Version 8.4

The condition builder now uses the Anypicker control to categorize the entities, such as fields or when conditions, that your application compares at run time. As a result, you can create conditions in a simplified and accelerated way. You can also select fields that are up to four levels deep within field groups.

For more information, see Create conditions faster with an Anypicker control (8.4)Adding an Anypicker controlDefining conditions in the condition builder.

Pulse configurations in the case type settings

Valid from Pega Version 8.4

In both App Studio and Dev Studio you can now configure Pulse in a simplified and user-friendly way, in the case type settings. Add Pulse posts to cases, define default and add new feed sources, and then customize the Pulse label, all without performing advanced actions, such as configuring sections. You can also define visibility conditions for each post type.

For more information, see Start collaborating faster with simplified Pulse configuration (8.4)Configuring Pulse for case types in Dev StudioConfiguring Pulse for case types in App Studio.

Extended language support in text analytics

Valid from Pega Version 8.4

Pega Platform™ text analytics now supports 9 more languages. You can build entity and topic detection models to analyze text in the Japanese, Russian, Turkish, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Polish, Croatian, and Czech languages. In addition, Pega Platform now includes a default small talk detection model for each of these languages.

For more information, see Language support for NLP and Out-of-the-box text analytics models.

Personalized views in table layouts

Valid from Pega Version 8.4

Table layouts now provide users with the option to save preferred run-time configurations, such as column visibility and filtering, as permanent profiles. This enhancement helps users create dedicated views for specific work scenarios, which reduces the need for repetitive adjustments to the user interface and improves productivity.

For more information, see Enabling table personalization.

Upgrade impact

After an upgrade to 8.4 and later, the default table toolbar styling and experience may be unexpectedly different for any customized tables in a client's application: if you enabled a tool bar action for a personalizable table and the 8.4 application overrides your customization, your application now displays the default 8.4 table toolbar.

What steps are required to update the application to be compatible with this change?

Existing clients that upgrade to Pega Platform 8.4 and later may need to update applications in some scenarios. Any custom actions present in the overridden section may need to be re-authored into this toolbar using the additional actions section.

Historical data extraction for adaptive models

Valid from Pega Version 8.4

Adaptive models now support the extraction of historical customer responses for offline analysis. Additionally, you can use the historical data to build a model in a machine learning service of your choice.

For more information, see Extract historical responses from adaptive models for offline analysis (8.4).

Simulation of data pages and third-party connections

Valid from Pega Version 8.4

When configuring your unit test case environment, you can now set up simulated data for connector and data page rules, instead of connecting to external sources.

By simulating such data calls, you are not dependent on any third-party server when running your tests.

This feature supports the following rules:

  • Data page
  • Connect-Cassandra
  • Connect-CMIS
  • Connect-dotNet
  • Connect-EJB
  • Connect-HBase
  • Connect-HTTP
  • Connect-Java
  • Connect-JMS
  • Connect-MQ
  • Connect-REST
  • Connect-SAP
  • Connect-SAPJCo
  • Connect-SOAP

For more information about simulating third-party connections, see Simulating data pages and third-party connections.

New branch quality dashboard

Valid from Pega Version 8.4

Pega Platform™ 8.4 introduces a new branch quality dashboard that shows the following metrics:

  • The branch’s guardrail compliance score and the number of guardrail violations
  • The percentage and number of unit tests that passed for the branch
  • The percentage and number of rules that the tests cover
  • Potential merge conflicts that can be addressed directly from the branch quality dashboard

For more information about the new branch quality dashboard, see Viewing branch quality and branch contents.
