Limited access for end user portals
Valid from Pega Version 7.1.1
The following portals are only accessible from supported versions of Internet Explorer in “quirks” mode:
- WorkUser
- WorkManager
Improved access to Cosmos UI settings
Valid from Pega Version 8.5
The Settings tab in the App Studio case designer now includes tools for configuring Cosmos UI. With this enhancement, you can adjust design system settings without the need to specialize individual When rules in Dev Studio, which simplifies UI creation and saves development time.
For more information, see Managing Cosmos UI settings in case designer.
Ability to restrict access to the Import wizard
Valid from Pega Version 8.5
You can now restrict access to the Import wizard so that users implement an automated pipeline to deploy changes between environments such as staging and production. Deployment Manager is one method by which to create pipelines. By using pipelines to propagate changes, users can apply a standardized and automated deployment process for migrating their applications.
For more information, see:
- Ensuring that users migrate applications with a pipeline by restricting the Import wizard

Changes to the Attach Content control in Pega Client for Windows
Valid from Pega Version 8.2
Users who access offline-enabled Pega Platform™ applications from Pega Client for Windows can now use the Attach Content control within a case view to attach files with a native file picker control or take screenshots with a device camera. Images are immediately attached to the case, and image file names are based on a time stamp. If a device has no camera, the client skips the source selection step and the native file picker control opens.
For more information, see Harness and Sections forms – Adding an Attach Content control.
Easily configure the live and interactive map control
Valid from Pega Version 7.1.8
The AddressMap control has been enhanced with a text input field so that users can mark a location on a map.
For example, an insurance adjuster can indicate the location of the accident when filing a case. By selecting Allow marker repositioning to change address value and dragging the marker pin, the Text Input field is automatically updated.
Enhanced autocomplete control with combo box functionality
Valid from Pega Version 7.3
You can now add combo box functionality to an autocomplete control. You enable this functionality on the Presentation tab of the control. In the combo box, search results that match the search criteria are displayed in a list that you can scroll through by clicking the down arrow.
For more information about how to configure an autocomplete control as a combo box, see Autocomplete Properties — Presentation tab.
Tour IDs and Test IDs in UI controls
Valid from Pega Version 7.3
Many UI controls now support the Test ID and Tour ID fields in the General tab of the layout properties. The Test ID setting generates a data-test-id
attribute to provide a fixed reference to a UI control for automated testing. You can use Tour IDs to create a guided tour of your user interface for users. For more information, see Test ID and Tour ID for unique identification of UI elements.
Test IDs and Tour IDs have been extended to the following UI controls.
Both Test IDs and Tour IDs are supported in the following types of controls:
- Autocomplete
- Button
- Check box
- Date time
- Drop-down
- Formatted text
- Icon
- Label
- Link
- Radio button
- Text area
- Text input
Test IDs are supported in the following controls:
- Grid
- Hidden text
- Tree
- Tree grid
Tour IDs are supported in:
- Dynamic layouts
Date range option added to DateTime control
Valid from Pega Version 8.2
The autogenerated DateTime control, used in forms, now features a custom date range option in the calendar picker. To specify a time period, click the From date and To date fields on an interactive calendar overlay. This input method is both convenient and mobile-friendly.
Improved control of case locking and retry mechanisms
Valid from Pega Version 8.3
The Delay factor, Initial delay in minutes, and Max retry attempts fields have been added to queue processors, and the Timeout to acquire lock field has been added to the Queue-For-Processing
method. Using these fields, you can quickly configure background processes that require you to lock cases or retry case processing.
For more information, see Creating a Queue Processor rule.
Upgrade impact
After a successful upgrade, the new fields contain their default values.
What steps are required to update the application to be compatible with this change?
To customize the functionality of this feature (and the new fields), open the Queue-For-Processing
definition and modify the values for the new properties or fields.
All tabs are accessible on delegated rule forms
Valid from Pega Version 7.1.1
Delegates can now access all tabs in a delegated rule form.
You can continue to customize the development experience for delegated users, such as line managers, who may not require the full set of rule form options. For example, you can prevent users from adding new nodes on the Decision Tree form or using the expression builder on the Map Value form. All users, including delegated users, can remove these restrictions if they hold a rule-editing privilege.
For more details on this process and a list of commonly delegated rules, see How to delegate a rule.
