New context menu in the ruleform header

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.8

A new context menu has been added to the Applies To class in the ruleform header. This menu provides the following links that are related to the current rule:

  • Show in App Explorer – switches the Application Explorer to the Applies To class of the current rule.
  • Open in class record – opens the Applies To class definition.
  • View in data designer – opens the Data Designer for the Applies To class.
  • View inheritance – opens the inheritance display for the Applies To class.

Activity feed displays application messages

Valid from Pega Version 7.4

The activity feed for Pulse now displays messages within the context of the application of the logged-in user. If a user posts messages within the context of the application, all the users of the application can view the messages in their activity feed. Users can select the filter for application messages to view only these messages. For example, application messages can be used for release announcements.

Paragraph rule responsive images

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.7

Images inserted in a paragraph rule can be configured to resize in response to the browser size, allowing an end-user to view the entire image without scrolling. Select the Auto resize check box in the paragraph rule Image Properties dialog to enable image responsiveness.

Easy-to-browse warning catalog

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.7

All Pega 7 warnings have been converted to Rule-Message instances, each with a clearly written, risk mitigation path. This allows you to use the Records Explorer to browse through all warnings in the system, organized by category. To view warnings associated with specific rules in your application, refer to the Application Guardrails landing page.

New Pulse gadget for users

Valid from Pega Version 7.2

You can use Pulse to communicate and collaborate with other users. For example, in Pulse you can post messages, share files, search for content, and view an activity feed on your dashboard that aggregates your Pulse posts.

For more information, see Pulse for social collaboration.

New send email automations and enhancements

Valid from Pega Version 8.3

You can now configure cases, flows, and activities to compose and send guardrail-compliant emails that conform to the MIME standard by using email automations. Use the new Call-Automation method to call an automation from an activity without writing Java.

You can also now categorize error messages in automations to quickly understand the type of error that occurred. In addition, page list data types are now supported for inputs and outputs in automations.

For more information, see Calling an automation from an activity and Viewing automations.

Increased visibility of strategy design changes with simulation batch tests

Valid from Pega Version 8.4

Improve your understanding of the impact that individual changes to strategy design have on the decision funnel by running batch simulation tests directly from the strategy canvas. With batch simulation tests, you can check that your strategy changes produce the expected results, and immediately see the results in context.

For more information, see Increase the real-time visibility of strategy design changes with simulation batch tests (8.4).

Upgrade impact

After an upgrade to 8.4 and later, simulation outputs produced from earlier versions cannot be used to view canvas counts.

What steps are required to update the application to be compatible with this change?

Following a software upgrade to 8.4 or later, clients must re-run existing simulations in Decision Funnel mode to view the counts in the canvas.

Default Create stage in a case life cycle

Valid from Pega Version 8.5

Pega Platform™ now adds a default Create stage to a case life cycle every time you create a new case type, both in App Studio and Dev Studio. The default Create stage includes a view that users interact with to provide initial data before case processing begins. Consequently, you can now easily locate the view to make any necessary changes. In the background, the Create stage makes a case type independent from the starting process, which removes relevant advanced configurations and makes application development faster.

For more information, see Capture initial data faster with the default Create stage (8.5), The Create stage.

Actionable error message in integration wizards

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.5

Improvements have been made to the integration wizards for SOAP, SAP, and .NET that enhance the user experience by providing clearer, actionable error messages when there are problems with WSDL uploads; letting you edit the endpoint while creating or testing the integration; clarifying how the data source class layer is reused and removing confusing terms; and adding an option in Tracer to view SOAP messages generated or received by integrations.

Identify team members working on a rule

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

By using the team collaboration widget, you can see who on your development team is working on the rule that you are viewing. This widget is displayed in the section header when you are using the Case Designer, Data Designer, or Channels and interfaces configuration pages. When you update a page, a notification is sent to other collaborators stating that the content has been updated and prompting them to refresh to see the latest content.
