Back Forward Referencing Rules

C-846 C-571 Understanding where a rule is used can be a valuable aid in learning and debugging applications. For several rule types, the Referencing Rules facility provides two lists:

For example, a harness rule might reference section, property, and control rules. In turn, several flow rules reference that harness rule.

In this context, "rule A references rule B", means that one or more key parts of rule B appear in the rule form for rule A. Your application many include many such "B" rules. At runtime, rule resolution determines which of possibly many "B" rules the system accesses and runs.

You can interact with the display to open a rule in either column.

To access the Referencing Rules display from the Designer Studio:

  1. Open a rule.
  2. Click the Related Rules toolbar button (Related Rules)
  3. Select Referencing Rules from the menu.
