Back Forward About the Scan Station

Workstations running on Microsoft Windows 2000 can employ the Scan Station tool to convert paper documents into an electronic image associated with a new work object. The tool works with any TWAIN-compliant scanner equipped with Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) hardware and uses ActiveX controls licensed from Kodak. ITKIS 02/18/05 The Scan Station link appears in the navigation panel of the Process Work portal (for work managers). This tool is mainly used when scanning a large number of documents in a single work session.

Unless batch scanning is required, it is recommended that you use the a flow action rule Work-.AttachFromScanner and the Image Viewer tool. This tool is accessible to both users and managers, and runs on Microsoft XP workstations. See About the Image Viewer tool.

A typical scenario

This scenario shows one way to use the Scan Station:

  1. A mail room worker removes the staples, straightens the letters, organizes the letters, and stacks them onto the scanner.
  2. A worker enters a starting batch ID, Operator ID, and a brief comment.
  3. The worker then selects options and starts scanning.
  4. Depending on the selected options, the system may scan in the whole batch automatically or the worker may review each document to accept or reject it
  5. A flow transfers each scanned document into a workbasket, one-by-one.
