Back Forward Key Performance Indicator

Business KPIs

For a business operation, a key performance indicator (KPI) is a measurement of organizational performance that is considered important by management.

Business activity monitoring focuses on identifying, gathering, and presenting key performance indicators. The KPIs gadget on the BusinessAnalyst portal's home page and the dashboard display of the WorkManager portal can present real-time KPI results for an application, using gauge charts or other interactive charts.

System KPIs

In the Alert log, the KPI Value is the measured value (in milliseconds or bytes) recorded by the alert, which exceeds a threshold value.

For example, the alert PEGA0002 occurs when a commit operation for the PegaRULES database exceeds a threshold interval; the default setting is 500 milliseconds or half a second. If the measured elapsed time for a specific commit operation is 780 milliseconds, the alert event is added to the log. The KPI Value is 780.

Solution Framework

The optional Key Performance Indicators solution framework allows line managers and business analysts to monitor the operations of work groups or individuals. Each defined KPI can use averages, counts, totals, or other statistics to assess whether operational performance falls within satisfactory ranges, defined by threshold and cutoff values. Results can appear as pop-up gauge charts or speedometers, providing visibility to performance issues so they can be addressed promptly.
