About the Application Packaging wizard |
The Application Packaging Wizard helps you package in a product rule the classes, rules, and data that make up an application. A product rule is an instance of the Rule-Application-Product class (and so is sometimes called a RAP).
Don't confuse the Application Packaging wizard (described here) with the Package Work wizard, which creates a product rule containing work items, assignments, history, and attachments. For that wizard, see About the Package Work wizard.
The wizard lets you review data instances associated with the application, and to manually remove any that you do not want to include in the Contents tab of the product rule. When the product rule is complete, you can run it to export a zip file, or use the rule to migrate the product to another system.
The wizard generates a product rule with the same name as the application it contains. You can reuse the product rule for future exports or migrations of the application.
By default, the product rule created by the Application Packaging Wizard contains instances of the following data classes that form part of the application you are packaging:
User | Database |
The wizard does not gather those data instances (if any) that your application may use from many other classes, so you may want to add them explicitly. After you create the package, click Modify on the confirmation screen to make further customizations manually.
To start the wizard, select Designer Studio> Application >Distribution > Package. The first form of the wizard ('Select Application') appears.
