For more information about badges, see Achievement badges.

Support for additional health metrics on the Application Quality landing page

Valid from Pega Version 7.4

On the Application Quality landing page, you can monitor the health of your current application to identify areas that need improvement before deployment. The landing page provides application metrics such as the number of executable rules, the guardrail score, the number of guardrail warnings, the test coverage percentage, and the pass rate of PegaUnit tests. From this landing page, you can also view data for the entire application, for each of its cases, and for rules that are not part of any case type.

For more information, see Application Quality landing page.

Pega 7 Express is available on-premises

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.9

You can now experience Pega 7 Express by switching your enterprise application from Designer Studio to express mode. By default, users with access to the Developer portal can switch between these two development environments. You can also create an express application to work in express mode exclusively.

Trial versions of Pega 7 Express continue to be available on the cloud. To view the documentation for both the cloud and on-premises environments, see Getting started with Pega 7 Express.

Access to Pega 7 Express from within Designer Studio is not supported on mobile devices.

Signature Capture control

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.6

The Signature Capture control allows you to capture a user's signature when using either a desktop application or a mobile app accessed from the Pega 7 mobile application. Once a user has input a signature, it is added to the work item as an image attachment.

Access the Signature Capture control from the Advanced dropdown in Designer Studio.

See How to use the Signature Capture control.

Enhancements to branches

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

Several enhancements to branches make it possible for you to now do the following tasks.

  • You can see all branches in your application and built-on applications by clicking App > Branches.
  • You can view all the rules in a branch in addition to quality statistics, such as the number of merge conflicts and guardrail warnings.
  • You can run PegaUnit tests that are configured on rules in a branch.
  • You can import branches from and push branches to a repository.
  • You can create reviews of branch contents.

For more information, see Enhanced features for branches.

Enhanced activity feed for Pulse displays messages

Valid from Pega Version 7.3.1

The activity feed for Pulse has been enhanced to display replies to messages that you have posted, messages on cases that you are following, messages in which you are referenced, messages posted on your user profile, messages by users that you are following, and messages that you have bookmarked. You can filter the activity feed to display the messages that you want to view.

For information about Pulse enhancements, see:

Improved cross-browser support

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.7

All rule forms are now harness-based and open in the work area of Designer Studio. This means that you can develop in the browser of your choice, free from pop-up distractions and incompatibility messages. Many rule forms have been upgraded to use the latest layouts, styles, and design best practices, giving you a consistent development experience.

Viewing a Word Template in Pega 7.1.7 compared with Pega 7.1.6

Previous restrictions still apply to any deprecated or custom rule forms in your application that remain form-based. Refer to the Deprecated features list for guidance on how to upgrade these forms and recommended alternatives.

Service REST monitoring

Valid from Pega Version 7.3.1

You can now monitor response and request data for REST services and view the results in Pega® Platform. The ability to monitor REST services is useful for debugging your application during development, for example, when a request fails. It is not recommended that you monitor REST services in production environments because monitoring might affect performance and depending on the number of incoming service requests, there is a chance that over a period of time, the invocation history might get large enough so that you run out of database space. You can configure monitoring globally for all of your REST services by using the service/EnableglobalMonitoring Dynamic System Setting with owning ruleset Pega-IntegrationEngine, or by using the service package and service rule forms.

For more information, see Service REST monitoring.

Enhancements to email approvals in a case

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.1

The following enhancements have been made to email approvals in a case:

  • In Designer Studio, you can quickly access the correspondence rule to customize the email template by clicking the Configure email template link on an approval step.
  • In Designer Studio, you can add or remove the fields that are displayed in the approval email by customizing the associated Review view.
  • In Case Designer, you can now quickly enable email approval when you click an approval step and route it to another user without having to switch to Process Modeler if you are working Designer Studio or switching to Designer Studio if you are working in express mode.
  • Recipients of email approvals can quickly open cases by clicking the links to the related cases that are provided in the emails.

For more information, see Email approval enhancements in a case type.

Capture real-time feedback with Agile Workbench

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

Project stakeholders can use the new Agile Workbench tool to capture real-time feedback directly in an application, which can increase the efficiency of application development. You capture feedback by creating a user story, bug, or feedback item, and these work items can include video recordings of screens, annotated screen captures, file attachments, or URLs. In Designer Studio, you can configure Agile Workbench to integrate with Pega® Agile Studio so that bugs and user stories are synchronized between the two systems.
