Normally, Process Commander only routes assignments to the worklists of users who are available. Information in the Operator ID data instance determines whether a user is available. An user is available if both conditions are true:

• The Operator is available to receive work? check box is selected.
• Today's date does not fall within any of the date intervals in the Scheduled Absences array. C-544

If routing for an assignment attempts to send the assignment to the worklist of an operator who is not available, Process Commander can use a rule referenced in the Operator ID instance to identify a substitute operator.

If no substitute is available, the routing activity sends the assignment to the worklist of the operator's manager. MARIK 11/17/06

Availability only affects the routing of assignments. The worklist of an unavailable user may or may not be empty; it can contain assignments sent before the operator became unavailable, or assignments transferred by a manager or another user. B-3150

User availability is unrelated to use of Process Commander applications. During a period when an user is marked as unavailable, that user can log in, work on older assignments, and enter new work objects (which can create assignments routed to others or to workbaskets).

Updating availability periods

Developers and work managers have the privilege needed to update the availability and scheduled absences information in Operator ID data instances, such as for vacations. R-9518 The standard privilege named Data-Admin-Operator-ID.UpdateWorkgroupAvailability conveys this capability.

• To update yourown availability, open the profile display. Click  Availability   and enter the dates. Click  OK  .
• To update the availability of another operator in your organization or work group:
• 1. Click the Process Work bar in a User or portal window.
  2. Click the Manage Operator Schedules and Profiles link in the My Group area of the workspace.
  3. Select the operator from the list and click  Availability  .
  4. Enter the dates. Click  OK  .
