Troubleshooting — Unable to open assignee's Operator ID

Symptom

An assignment contains the message:

Unable to open assignee's Data-Admin-Operator-ID record zzzzz.

Analysis

As a flow execution reaches creates an assignment on a worklist, the standard activity named Assign-Worklist.AddAssign is normally called. If input parameters to this activity reference an Operator ID that does not exist, the activity fails and (by default) the standard flow Work-.FlowProblems starts as an additional flow execution on the same work object.

This assignment is from the FlowProblems flow execution.

Action

Research and take the following actions as appropriate.

If the Operator ID mentioned in the message appears correct, confirm that the corresponding Data-Admin-Operator-ID instance exists and is valid. If not, add the Operator ID instance.

If the Operator ID mentioned does not appear to be correct, explore the flow rule, the router task, and the work object to identify how a non-existent Operator ID was entered:

• If entered by a user, tighten editing on user inputs to allow selection of only valid Operator IDs.
• If the incorrect value was computed (such as by a substitute rule), revise the computation to derive only valid Operator ID values.
• If entered based information received from an external system, revise the flow to validate and handle such incorrect data.
