Flow rules

Create a new flow rule by selecting Flow
from the Process
category.
A flow rule has two key parts:

For a starter flow rule, select or enter a class that derives from the Work- base class. For a flow rule that is to be started from a Flow shape () Split-ForEach shape (), or a spin-off shape (), you can select or enter a class derived from the Data- or Embed- class. The classes you can enter here may depend on the RuleSet you select. On the Restrictions tab of the Class form, a class rule may limit rules applying to that class to those that belong to one of an explicit list of RuleSets. C-356 |
Flow Type |
Enter a name for this flow. Begin the name with a letter and follow the rules for a Java identifier, but do not include dash characters. See How to enter a Java identifier. NO DASHES B-18429NO QUOTES B-22701 |
Optionally, for special cases, you can select a template rule to provide a starting set of shapes and capabilities for the new flow rule.BUG-4014
Leave the Name field of the Template option blank to create a flow rule using the Visio stencil you identified as your default preference. To review or change this default stencil, select Preferences item from the Designer Studio profile menu. Review the Stencil field in the Edit preferences group. See Business Process Modeling Notation.
To create a flow rule that is based on a template rule, select one of the following template rules:

PolicyOverride

Creates a flow rule consisting of the standard flow named FinishPolicyOverride as a final task. The flow is used to support policy override reviews. R-20888 |
Screen flow templates | A screen flow template creates a flow rule representing a sequence of assignments for one or a set of users that involves no automated processing tasks. Special restrictions apply; see Flow Form — Editing in Visio — Screen Flow Rules. |
