Updating your built-on application

Updated on March 19, 2021

Change the built-on application for your application definition if required.

Pega CRM 8.7 Feature Adoption for Pega Cloud
Important: Before you update your built-on application, run the Upgrade Checkers to identify and correct rule conflicts. For information, see Running the Upgrade Checkers.
Note:
  • For Pega Cloud updates from 7.x to 8.7, this procedure is required before you can use your application.
  • For Pega Cloud updates from 8.x to 8.7, this procedure is required if you want to use the latest Pega Customer Service features or the Cosmos version of Pega Sales Automation.
  1. In the header of Dev Studio, click the name of the application, and then click Definition.
  2. In the Built on applications section, change the values in the Name and Version fields to the name and version of the built-on application that you want to use. If the name is unchanged, change the version information only.
    ChoicesActions
Update to Pega Customer Service 8.7

Select CustomerService 8 or CustomerService 8.7.

To use the latest features in version 8.7, you must select the 8.7 built-on application. Always choose the built-on application for version 8.7, unless your existing application requires rules that are deprecated or withdrawn in the latest version.

Note: In the chat and messaging feature of Pega Customer Service version 8.7, czConversationID property is optimized in the PegaCA-Work-Interaction class, and the corresponding table name is pegadata.pca_work. So, the same property must be optimized in customer implementation classes and corresponding vertical classes. The czConversationID column length must be updated as 128.
Update to Pega Sales Automation 8.7

    Select PegaSalesAutomation.8 or PegaSalesAutomationCosmos.8.

Only choose the Cosmos version of the built-on application when your application is ready to use the Pega Cosmos design system and React components, and if your application does not require rules that are deprecated or withdrawn in the Cosmos version. For more information, review the design limitations in Adopting the Cosmos design system.
