Chart control - Completing the Dial tab for a gauge chart

When a Chart control displays a gauge chart, the second tab of the Cell Properties panel is labeled Dial. Set values in this tab for data display in the chart.

Display values as

In the Numeric values field, select the property to provide the values for the gauge.

The Function field select the SQL function to employ.

If the data source is a report definition, select in the Numeric values field from the list of aggregate columns in the report. The Function field is automatically set.

Format numeric values

  • Symbol field – select an option:
    • None – No further fields appear.
    • Currency – Select "Local currency", which defaults to the system settings, or "Other currency" .
      • Custom type – If you selected "Other currency", this field appears. Select from the available options the type for this currency.
      • Position – Specify whether the symbol appears to the left or the right of the number.
      • Display – Select one of the options
        • Currency symbol (e.g. $)
        • 3 character currency code (e.g. USD)
        • Currency name (e.g. US Dollars)
    • Constant
      • Constant – The currency indicator.
      • Position – Specify whether the symbol appears to the left or the right of the number.
    • Reference
      • Reference – Select the property that holds the currency indicator.
      • Position – Specify whether the symbol appears to the left or the right of the number.
  • Decimals – Select Auto to have the system select the number of decimal places to appear, or a number from those available.
  • Check the Separators check box to have appropriate separators (typically , or .) appear to divide millions, thousands, and so on.
  • Min value – Provide the minimum value for the gauge.
  • Max value – Provide the maximum value for the gauge.
  • Min label – Provide the label for the minimum value.
  • Max label – Provide the label for the maximum value.

General settings

  • Data tooltip – Select the check box to have a tooltip display the value the needle is pointing at.
  • Minimum label – Optionally provide a label for the gauge's minimum value.
  • Minimum value – Provide the minimum value for the gauge.
  • Maximum label – Optionally provide a label for the gauge's maximum value.
  • Maximum value – Provide the maximum value for the gauge.
