Use new official names for Intelligent Virtual Assistants (8.6)

Updated on June 1, 2023

To ensure more consistent names for conversational channels in Pega Platform™ and help differentiate conversational channels from the Pega Unified Messaging Edition™ application, Pega Intelligent Virtual Assistant™ (IVA) for Unified Messaging is now called IVA for Digital Messaging. You can create and configure a Digital Messaging channel in your application, so that users can interact with your chatbots on the Apple Business Chat, Facebook, SMS/MMS, and WhatsApp social messaging platforms. Additionally, the IVA for Web Chatbot that is available in previous versions of the system is now called IVA for Legacy Webchat, because you can now use the new WebChat widget in the Digital Messaging channel.

The following figure shows the Create new channel interface page, on which you can create a new Digital Messaging or Legacy Webchat channel for your application:

Note: Due to changes by Twitter in the API and the licensing model, direct integration with Twitter is no longer supported in the Digital Messaging channel interface.
