Preview panel

Updated on December 13, 2022

The preview panel appears on the right side of the application when the user clicks the preview option on a case link on their screen. Because the preview panel is displayed over the current work context, the user can compare information about another case without abandoning tasks in progress, which reduces context switching and clicks.

The following figure shows a preview summary panel and its components:

The case header (A), action header (B), case details (C) and tabs (D) sections are stacked in the preview on the left side of the screen.

Pega Platform provides the following ready-to-use views that you can customize to meet your business needs:

A: Header
Contains information that helps the user identify the case, and case action buttons. You can configure the header in the same way that you configure a header in a summary panel view. In fact, the header of the summary panel and the header of the preview panel are the same section, with two regions for action buttons (Case header actions and Preview case header actions). Depending on the context in which the section is used - in a summary or a preview - the system displays one and hides the other.

For more information, see Managing Cosmos UI settings in case designer and Adding action buttons to a case header.

B: Tabs
Provide convenient access to views that hold supplementary case information, such as the Pulse feed. Tabs configured for the summary panel appear in the preview, but in the preview, the tabs are horizontal.

For more information, see Adding tabs to the summary panel.

C: Assignment list
Displays the current task associated with the case and its urgency.
D: Case details
Contains critical data about the case, including its priority level, operator ID, and status. The case details view is reused in the summary panel.

For more information, see Customizing the case details section.

For more information about views, see the Pega Academy article Pega Cosmos essential anatomy.
