Data capture controls
Data capture controls help you gather information from the application users in a more intuitive way. You can use a variety of preconfigured controls that correspond to different types of data in the application. For example, the Currency control captures monetary data and formats it accordingly.
- Adding a Text input control
A cell in a layout can present the value of a property, as display-only or as an input field. Follow these instructions to control the presentation of a property value in a Text input control.
- Adding a Text area control
A text area is an area in which the user types or pastes one or multiple lines of text, without formatting the text.
- Date time (calendar) control
To present a date, time, or both on a form, use the Date time control. You can modify the control features to improve user experience by making date and time selection simple and intuitive. For example, you can choose to display the calendar widget with spinners to make it easier to switch between months and years.
- Adding a Currency control
A currency control is a purpose-specific control. It has properties that let you define its exact presentation behavior to support one or several currencies.

- Adding a Signature capture control
You can add the Signature capture control to a cell, enabling users to capture a user signature, either through a mouse input or through a touch interaction on a mobile device. This control works when used in the context of a work object. Interacting with this control in an application occurs by displaying a field inline where a signature can be scribbled. It can take up a large portion of the screen.
- Rich text editor controls
The Rich text editor control provides users with an interface for adding and editing text. By using standard word processing tools, such as fonts and formats, this control helps application users style their text, which improves presentation and usability.
